About

Out of Service is an interactive full-motion video game starring you, the audience, as you embark on a perilous adventure — trying to get laundry done! This was a remastering of a previous project, and was presented at Bradley's 2023 FUSE showcase. As an FMV game, the player chooses how they progress through the story, and with eight unique endings, no two playthroughs will be the same!

Making Out of Service

Out of Service was made as a passion project and was shown at the 2023 FUSE showcase in April. In short, FUSE is an annual public showcase of Bradley student-led projects. Production for each game starts at the beginning of each winter semester, so each project is in development for around four total months. More info can be found on the 2023 FUSE website, linked in the logo on the left!

Out of Service was the first FUSE project I had ever worked on and was definitely a type of game that I had no experience with. I worked primarily as a script writer, and wrote some of the game's most liked scenes! While I wasn't in a production role for this project, I worked often with many different organizational/production tools, just as Trello and Twine, which is a tool that assists with storyboarding and concepting. After the initial writing phase, I focused my attention on helping oversee revisions for the other writer's scripts, as well as a little bit of set decoration when scenes were being filmed.

Final Thoughts

Even though I wasn't in a leadership role for Out of Service, it inspired me to be more involved with future FUSE projects. This year (2024), I am working as the Lead Producer for one project, and co-producer for an Out of Service prequel! More information about both of those projects will be released in the coming months.
